Goods and Service Tax (GST) is a destination-based tax on consumption of goods and services. It is levied at all stages right from manufacture up to final consumption with credit of taxes paid at previous stages available as setoff. In a nutshell, only value addition will be taxed and burden of tax is to be borne by the final consumer.

GST Registration

Purchase from Unregistered Persons: -In cases of supply by an unregistered supplier to a registered person, GST shall be paid by the recipient under Reverse Charge Mechanism. A registered taxable person who is liable to pay tax on reverse charge should issue a Tax Invoice on making any inward supply of goods or services from unregistered person.

Who has to get registered under GST Act?

Every supplier whose aggregate turnover exceeds Rs. 20 Lacs in a financial year is liable to get himself registered within 30 days, in a State from where he makes taxable supplies. Further, a casual taxable person or a non-resident taxable person shall apply for registration at least 5 days prior to the commencement of business. Once business entity is registered, it has to obtain various other registrations, based on its nature of business. Right Grid provides the services of obtaining below mentioned post incorporation registrations:

  • Every person who is registered under an earlier law (i.e., Excise, VAT, Service Tax etc.) needs to register under GST.
  • When a business which is registered has been transferred to someone/demerged, the transferee shall take registration with effect from the date of transfer.
  • Anyone who drives inter-state supply of goods.
  • A person who occasionally supplies goods and/or services in a territory where GST is applicable but he does not have a fixed place of business. Such a person will be treated as a casual taxable person or as a non-resident taxable person as per GST.
